Submit Your Journal

If your journal publishes peer-reviewed work, your papers are already declaring gaps that gitgap doesn't know about. Submit here and we'll probe for API access within 24 hours.

How aggregation works

Path 1 — PMC / PubMed Central

If your journal is indexed in PubMed Central, it can be added immediately. Provide your NLM ID (from the NLM catalog) and we'll add it to the reconcile queue. Most biomedical journals are already accessible via this path.

Path 2 — OAI-PMH (OJS journals and institutional repositories)

Any journal running OJS (Open Journal Systems) supports OAI-PMH by default. Your OAI endpoint is typically:

https://yourjournal.com/index.php/journal/oai
https://yourjournal.com/oai
https://yourjournal.com/oai/request

Provide the endpoint URL and we'll test it and add your journal to the harvesting schedule. OAI-PMH enables incremental sync — only new articles are fetched on each run.

Path 3 — Manual or bulk submission

No PMC listing, no OAI-PMH endpoint? Submit DOIs manually or contact us for a bulk ingestion arrangement. We accept JATS XML, BioC JSON, or plain-text abstracts.

Who qualifies

  • Peer-reviewed journals — any discipline
  • Preprint servers with editorial curation
  • Institutional repositories with peer-reviewed content
  • Open-access and hybrid access journals (full-text improves extraction quality but is not required)

We do not aggregate predatory, hijacked, or non-peer-reviewed journals. All submitted requests are reviewed before addition.

What happens after submission

  1. We probe the journal name against PMC, Crossref, DOAJ, and OpenAlex
  2. If a PMC or OAI-PMH feed is found, the journal is added to the reconcile queue (24–48h)
  3. If no feed is available, we log the discovery result and contact you with alternatives
  4. Your journal appears in Journals We Aggregate once the first reconcile runs

Submit your journal

OJS journals: usually /index.php/journal/oai or /oai

We'll reply with the discovery result — typically within 24 hours.
